I suppose that Missouri is pretty representative of the mood of the country now. It is about as polarized as the rest of the country, it has a Democratic executive and Republican legislature. It has large urban centers on each side of the state, which tend to be Democratic strongholds; it has a large rural conservative populace; and Springfield is pretty much the buckle of the bible belt. No wonder most of the pollsters still put it in the "up for grabs" column.
