So, Dallaseans aren't readying the torches and pitchforks while descending on that apartment complex for a bonfire? Dang, all of my preconceptions about Red Texas are misplaced. Where are all the bubbas?

You've gone from being paranoid to panic-mongering, with the usual subtext....

Out-of-hand would be the number of cases doubling every day or two.

Straight off of Fox News with maybe a little CNN seasoning. 24/7 fearmongering sells.

Oh I get around more than that. I even heard Chris Matthews rant. Now he did bring Obama into it.

That would be out of hand by 3rd world standards. Shouldn't we have a little higher benchmark if we're going to be a destination for the hopeful?

Since quarantine's been tossed out the window for PC reasons here we may be more susceptible to an outbreak than we think.

I suspect the big reason we sent the army in to help was not exactly altruistic. There is a very real possibility of a multination government crash in Africa. It would not be pleasant.

Pray for these people. Their lives were hard enough to begin with.

Yes, by all means, let's quarantine all of Africa. That'll protect our precious bodily fluids from EBOLA!!!

Sorry Pete, couldn't resist...

The mechanism of transmission is virtually identical to AIDS. Don't exchange fluids with someone who's infected, and you can't be infected.

I suspect that a lot of the hysteria about Ebola is similar to the hysteria surrounding AIDS in the late 70's. Then we had bigots who wanted to quarantine gay men, now we got bigots who want to quarantine Africans.
