After all, WWII was the war that made America great.
Moreover, GM just announced it is bringing back the Chevy Blazer and building it in Mexico.

Apparently GM will be using a Mexican factory and workforce they've had for years. Even with the tariff, the car will be more profitable made in Mexico. On the other hand, with the tariffs Harley's EU sales will be more profitable if they hire a European firm to build their motorcycles. In both cases it's the buyer who loses in this trade war through higher prices and the seller who sells less product.

Chevys in Mexico, Harleys in Europe... Are you getting tired of all this winning?!

The first layoffs from Trump’s tariffs are here

Quote:
The first casualties of President Trump's trade war are 60 workers at Mid-Continent Nail, America's largest nail manufacturer. They lost their jobs on June 15 at a factory in a part of Missouri that voted overwhelmingly for Trump. The whole company could be out of business by Labor Day.

This is a potential game changer in Trump's trade strategy, especially if it marks the start of more companies announcing layoffs. On Monday, Harley-Davidson said it will be moving some “production” offshore because of the trade war (Europe hit Harley with a 31 percent tariff in response to Trump's steel tariffs on Europe). Harley won't confirm if jobs are leaving the United States, but the union representing many Harley workers, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, is worried.

The Trump administration has argued that these tariffs will save jobs and that the cost to America will be minor. But now there are real job losses. Now there is a human face on the pain that so many trade experts have been warning about.
I find it hard to feel sorry for these morons who voted for Trump and continue to support him. Nor will they ever learn.

You don't make America better by edicts. Elect a TV moron and you get third rate drama and disaster. But then Trump loves the uneducated. MAGA my ass.

Trump slams Harley-Davidson over tariff dispute

Because OF COURSE Donny’s incompetence has nothing to do with Harley having to move jobs overseas...

There is more on this Mid-Continet Nail. China is the winner.
Quote:
Mid-Continent’s orders for July are only 30 percent of what they were last year, and Skarich is afraid that many of his lost customers will never return.

Skarich voted for Trump, as did 79 percent of surrounding Butler County.

Mid-Continent Nail imports from Mexico most of the metal wire it uses to make nails. By driving up the company’s costs, Trump’s tariffs are making it nearly impossible for the 500-worker company to compete with cheap nails from China, Skarich said.
Does Forbes have Chump of the Year award? I nominate the Dotard.

President Trump on Tuesday threatened the iconic motorcycle company Harley-Davidson with severe taxes and predicted a public revolt that he said would eventually put the 115-year-old firm out of business, blasting the Wisconsin company for a plan to move some operations outside the United States as a way to avoid getting caught in the middle of an escalating trade war.

I wonder if this is enough to get that spineless weasel, Paul Ryan, to fight against Trump's specious tie of his tariffs to national security.

Any trade conflict with China has some element of national security.

China is gearing up for a big fight...militarily and otherwise

Now some have realized this and the decision is made to target Made in China 2025.

Trump's trade war is all about his being #1. He is separating himself and the politically incorrect wing further from the proper/respectable Republicans. You're either with him or against him. The game for the GOP is all about doing what it takes to beat him in 2020. Trump is our President and he is going to exercise as much power as he can. There is a method to his madness and the primary goal at his core now includes winning in 2020. Trump's recent treatment of refugee children is another example of Trump pushing proper/respectable Republicans out of the party.
