The Coming Republican (Tea Party) Sabotage

Best article I have read in a long time.......

http://nymag.com/news/features/repub...ngress-2013-7/

I will quote the last paragraph which I think is the best:

In the actual world, the economy is recovering and the deficit, currently projected at half the level Obama inherited, is falling like a rock. Yet messianic Republican suicide threats in the face of an imagined debt crisis have not subsided at all. The swelling grievance within the party base may actually be giving the threats more fervor. The reign of the Republican House has not yet inflicted any deep or permanent disaster on the country, but it looks like it is just a matter of time.

Wasn't it Einstein who said the definition of insanity was repeating the same course over and over whilst expecting different results? Personally I think it's rabies that is afflicting the Speaker of the House...

If you use the 'debt clock time machine' and set it to 2017 you find that our gross debt to gdp increases to 133% from its' current 106%, total debt goes from the current 17ish tril to 22.5.

I still wonder, should Mr. Obama get the credit for reducing the deficit or is it an indirect result of Republican house intransigence?

It will not matter if a default throws the country into a recession next year.
that is the whole point of the article. The Tea Party does not even want to pay the electric bill....

I was not referring to the TP. To me they are a delusional group with no vision, rather destroy the nation to attain their ideals but the mainstream GOP is using TP either for cover or for fear of getting "primaried" by blocking various spending bills.
