Iran is the last remaining friend that the Palestinians have. They've pissed off everyone else, and Iran is the last remaining country that sees Palestinian "friendship" as a strategic asset. Meanwhile, Iran continues to supply the Palestinians with arms to support a proxy war against Israel and the West. Even the Saudis - with their historic "guardians of Islam" banner - has lost patience with the Palestinians and no doubt lacks confort with their Iran alliance.

The Middle East is changing, thank heavens. Iran and the Palestinians can continue to fight centuries old conflicts at their peril, or they can moderate and participate.
