Funny thing is that sex is decided at conception (Chromosomes) but genitalia are common to both sexes until around the 5th month when they begin to assume the appropriate shape. So who is to say the one's preference in mates might not have gone in the "right" direction during this process?

As a kid, dealing with large herds of livestock I used to see farm animals on occasion that had both sex organs. So I guess humans gender can go either way, or both too. Really there are humans born with both, just we hardly ''hear about it.'' I can see that being hard for someone to talk about.

I've seen a few same sex bondings in the animal world as well, not unusual in nature.
