That's a good one. Thanks for reminding me. I'm listening to it as I type.

I just got in from working on the truck stereo. The old Nak front end gave up the ghost a couple weeks ago. First the disc mechanism jammed up and ruined a Talking Heads cd, then the volume pot started getting all scatchy. I had just opened it up and cleaned the volume pot, got that straight......and the FM section started getting all screwy..........Done. I am done pissing about with you......
Replaced it with a low-on-the-line Alpine that was on sale for $90. Installed the Alpine and cleaned all of the connections on the amp.
Once it was all together; I loaded up Alan Parsons Project--Turn of a Friendly Card and went for a drive.
WOW!!!!! Strong, punchy sound. The Nak was nice, the Alpine is awesome! I had forgotten how good those Focal speakers sound! Daddy like! Not bad at all for $90.
For once, I didn't mind burning up the $4 a gallon gas at 15 MPG.......temporarily.
There is still a little intermittance......bad connection somewhere, so it goes back into surgery tomorrow morning. Think I'll pull the door panels and clean up/ tighten the speaker connections....
In the morning.
Dave

Ain't it though! One of my favorite versions of Can't Stand The Rain. What a gifted guy he was.

Sorry to hear that you're unloading your Vandersteens. I hope that your E Waves will take up the slack. When I want some concert level sound my Vandersteen threes are unbeatable. The soundstage is the best that I've ever experienced! (short of live.) I got lucky when I bought mine. I had a customer that had a pair sitting in their closet. I happened to mention that I was looking for speakers and this kind lady got a funny look on her face and said, "let me show you something." She pulls a drop cloth off of these big towers and asks me how much would I give for them? I waffled and told her , "Let me do some research." The next time I was there I offered half of what I was willing to pay and to my surprise she said, "Done, just get them out of my closet-today!" So, for a $425 I dragged them home. Friggin' best money I've ever spent on speakers.

That is quite a deal. I have not heard Vandy 3s for awhile, but I have good memories. This weekend I was trying to figure out how I could justify a set of 8 foot tall Acoustats. I'm on a quest for stats. I want something local and at a reasonable price. I'm still kicking myself for not snagging the Infinity SS1s that sold here last year.
