Drove a Fiat 500 the other day - fun and the size I'd like for downtown, but at highway speed on the bridges it feels flimsy and almost cringes when a semi rolls by.

I rented a Ford Focus hatchback a while back and liked it - going to check out the Fiesta, too.
You still haven't tried the best of the bunch.

I'm going to - it's a little bigger than I'm looking for, same with the Prius and Focus, but I may have to go with that size.

A Mazda3 isn't exactly big. Excellent mileage though, along with decent performance and handling.

It definitely gets great reviews. A friend bought one for his wife - she loves it. I'm going to give it a whirl when I can get out there.

And I completely overlooked the Honda Civic. Someone I know must have one.

It's the only way you're going to avoid a car that "feels flimsy and almost cringes when a semi rolls by".

I would look into leasing a Honda Fit EV since it has been discontinued. Not sure of availability in SC though.

Had a look at the Scion iA last night - the owner I spoke with likes it a lot. I know nothing about the brand, other than it is a Mazda manufactured automobile and sold by Toyota - should be reliable.

If I'm not mistaken, the iA is the only Mazda-made Scion. All others are made by Toyota.

Also, the iA was new for 2016 so I wonder why it's for sale if the owner likes it a lot.

Hyundai Sonata (maybe a bit big) or Elantra.

Great cars and the warranty transfers.

Those have a good reputation as well. Getting a little tiring hunting for the right one, but it is for the best cause - my wife.

When it's done, it will be back to more old BMWs for me - starting the search already - after a 1972 2002Tii - the one below is outstanding, but with the Alpina tuning more than I want to spend.
