Was the tea party - gasp! - wrong

An interesting column from a financial manager and Pulitzer prize winner suggests that the recent struggles in the market are a reaction to the budget cutting frenzy, and its un-stimulating effect. The bonds investors also seem to disagree with S&P, as treasury rates have fallen. The guy makes a lot of sense, but then, I am receptive to his message.

Regards,

D-Ray

I read that article over coffee this AM, of course the tea party is wrong, it is not as if they have a collective IQ higher than 75.

Love all the talk about a double dip when the vast majority have yet to climb out of the first dip, only the looters on Wall Street and all the big corporations have made it out of the ditch.

As Rob says, of course they're wrong. That said, they and their fellow travelers have been allowed (by Obama and whomever else) to control the narrative.

One cannot control the narrative if people do not want to listen. A lot of the white middle feeds on Rush and Hannity with their hogwash - increase tax on billionaires is class warfare. The blacks just listen to basketball.

It never ceases to amaze me how the Tea Party, which has only been in existence for a couple of years, and at best only hold a little over 60 seats in the house and senate combined, have managed to devastate the nation's economy since they took office at the first of the year.

It also never ceases to amaze me that no matter how many fiat greenbacks Uncle Sammy creates, they just keep getting worth less and less.

Now the author of this piece does have a valid point...it's a great time to borrow money. Cheap interest, and it will be paid back in inflated (nice word for worthless) dollars.

The only catch is that wages and assets are deflating, while the costs of beans and beer are going through the roof.

The questions is...to bet or to fold?

And as Lord Keynes pointed out, "The markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent."

Somehow, I'm not too inspired about borrowing money on a personal level. And after watching how the government manages their finances, I'm not too inspired about letting them borrow any more as well.

Like I said, nobody screwed with me all day.

And I feel a lot better, considering how rough my week was.

I was starting to get mean.

How can the Tea Party possibly be wrong about anything?

They've listened intently to all of the greatest minds of our lifetime, Beck, Limbaugh, Boortz, Palin, Perry, Robertson.......They know that the whole purpose of the creation of our country and constitution is too protect the greediest and most avaricious among us from the interference from elected lawmakers and the pesky "masses" who so rudely expect to "live" off of their salaries. They are very thoroughly brainwa........Oooops, My bad. I meant to say "educated".
