I have been having my 6 yr old granddaughter read to me lately. I suppose I ought to read a good book again soon.

Somewhat dated because Clark did not have access to the amount of Russian
archives as did Glantz.
However Clark has a way with the English Language.

Los Conquistadores: JOSE ROMAN
The Spanish conquest of Central America in novel form by Nicaraguan
author, Jose Roman.
Still reading this. Roman is good at transmitting atmosphere and is Spanish thank goodness
could not be called anglicized.
One feels the period - middle of the 16th century.

You are doing your bit to help the world with that exercise. Lots of studies show how involvement from family members or others creates a much greater chance for academic success. And Lord knows we need more kids to succeed in school.

D-Ray

We made a deal with our granddaughter. She reads a story to us and we will read one to her. She doesn't see it as studying that way.
My sisters were teaching me to read before I started school. When I was teaching my youngest son to read he was reading everything he could. I remember him reading the ingredients on the back of a soda can in the back seat of the car once when he was 6. I was impressed that he was actually getting many of them right.

Drove up the road to the used bookstore this AM and picked up three more of C.S. Lewis' books. Had a nice chat with the lady who runs it as well.

Ah bless USPS Media Mail, ordered C.S. Lewis' Surprised by Joy on Saturday and it arrived today - cheap and fast. Now to see if he arrived by the same path that I did.
