Maybe it should go in the Democratic Party thread (?)

Florida, a state where we used to live is at it again, abortion.

The state Supreme Court upheld a six week abortion ban, one of the most restrictive in the country. At the same time, they also ruled that a constitutional amendment to enshrine abortion in Florida can go on the November ballot. They even upheld the text on the proposition.

Quote:
But in their ruling Monday, the justices said the amendment’s intent and potential scope were more than clear.

“The broad sweep of this proposed amendment is obvious in the language of the summary,” they wrote. “Denying this requires a flight from reality.”

The proposed amendment states: “No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s health care provider.” A 60 percent supermajority would need to vote in favor of the amendment to add it to the constitution.
This will truly be a litmus test for Florida, whether abortion is codified in their constitution.

DeSatan isn't running for president or to get reelected so maybe it has a chance.

My gut feel is that though Florida is gerrymandered and a GOP/GQP stronghold, the citizenry is evenly divided, or at least think so. So pro-abortion stands a good chance unless the state government restricts voting, a very good possibility.

It remains to be seen. Even the GOP/GQP minions have a different opinion of allowing abortions once in the privacy of the voting booth.
