Do you even pretend that you have provided an accurate description of most of the people engaging in the demonstrations?
I'm not after what the rich have - I am tired of them taking what I and other hard-working people have earned. We have had a huge problem with the upward redistribution of wealth in the last several years, and I, for one, am sick of it.

The problem as I see it, is who is rich? Is it an annual income question, or a money in the bank thing? Is a millionaire rich, even though the interest off a milion would only give you about 60K a year to live on? Define rich I guess??

Good point, TD. You have defined one of the flaws in the right wing's argument against taxes. They are always want to point out that those with the highest incomes pay most of the taxes - they pay a higher portion of their tax bill than their portion of the national income. That argument becomes much weaker, however, when you look at how much wealth the financial elites hold compared to the amount of taxes they pay.
Another way to look at the question is how much income do the financial elite have available to them after all of their taxes have been paid as opposed to those in the lower income levels who have considerably less available income after they have satisfied their tax obligations (payroll taxes, state taxes, excise taxes, gasoline taxes, city earnings taxes, etc.) Yet these low-income earners are the ones who, according to the right wingers, aren't paying their fair share.
Regards,
D-Ray

Where the hell are you getting a 6% return.
If for sure isn't in an interest bearing account at the bank.

In my eyes, rich isn't defined by a $... it's defined about your happyness. I"ve not met many people with piles of money that were truely happy.. .
Matter a fact, seems the better I do financially the less happy I am... go figure..

I have experienced the same thing more than once. Me and the wife are always pretty happy, but when times get tough it seems like we get closer ya know. When she was in school, times were real tough, and we would have fun doing the dumbest stuff. I remember the day we bought a vacuum at a thrift and fixed it all up so we wouldn't have to rent the one from the apt. complex for a dollar. You would have thought we just got a new Cadillac or something. Good times.

Cool to find someone that gets it... I remember when the electricity would get shut off and I'd be more satisfied than when I could flick on the switch.. Yeah, it was a bum deal but make the best with what ya got. Makes you think about what life was like before creature comforts.
Any more I'd rather live off the grid with a generator for "needs" in the middle of the mountains making my own way away from people.

A fair tax would be a national sales tax, excluding food and medicine. Then everyone would contribute, including all the illegal money.
