Farmers -- Represent

Farmers,

Please tell us a story.

How many chemicals are you being told to spray on your crops?

TV ads near Flint MI are telling farmers that the best way to fight resistance is by spraying more chemicals.

The advice contrasts with my farming experience. Back then we knew that chemicals killed indiscriminately. The best advice we got was to mix to that shit behind behind the barn and not spill it.

Where is your mind at? Mine is old and I want to help pass the torch.

I'm confused.

EDIT: You're talking about weeds & bugs becoming resistant...got it.

Exactly.

How do the farmers among us use chemicals?

My understanding is that that they are pushed to use three.

During my era we used one chemical and hid it.

Monocropping must come to an end. Diversity & natural predators must be part of the system.

Not only about bugs and weeds. Also fertilizer over use.

Cities around here are educating about lawn care chemical overuse contaminating the water shed.

The seeds sold by the supplier require chemicals from the same source to produce at an acceptable level.

Th farmer can't save seeds from the previous harvest and use any more.
