Single payer would more expensive and involve new taxes on the middle class than most people know. You are talking about a major social engineering project that would redefine American and make Obama look like a conservative.

I could live with it but will America?

The audacity of hope, I suppose. Hoping in this case that in two or four years public opinion makes a congress possible that will make it possible.

Buh-but, haven't you heard? We'll all get glitter farting unicorns, puppies and rainbows if we just vote for St. Bernie instead of the evil oligarchic Shillary.

You never know. There can be a dynamic to events in which what seems impossible suddenly becomes possible. Then it's 'an idea whose time has come.'

But someone has to be pushing a positive program. You can't beat something with nothing--that's how the Republicans lost against Obamacare.

When enough Americans demand single we will get it. I do not see that at this point in time because Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan are in charge of Congress.

The Federal Reserve works with private banks to control our money supply and regulate our economy...perhaps the same will happen with insurance companies and Obamacare/Medicare/Medicaid.

two or four years!

Mid terms and gerrymandering favor the Repubs for a long time.

Right. We should just all give up and accept our lot in life. Because that's the way to make things better.

Higher taxes is one side of the equation. The other side is no more insurance premiums.

A lot of people don't see that because their employers are picking up a big chunk of those premiums. But with an average family policy going for $16,000 a year (and that was 2013, it's probably more now)

http://www.nbcnews.com/health/health...ly-f6C10960584

The fact is their employers are passing those costs on to their employees by paying lower salaries and other benefits.

I know the group plan that covers State of Florida Employees is $1444 a month. That's $17,000 a year.

Yep, and every other first world country has it and they pay less in total for Health care. A lot less.
