the thing about illegal immigration is that it has been going on for decades and no administration, republican or democrat, has effectively addressed it.
That being said........ya just gotta wonder why......
What is the benefit to us that our leaders let this slide for so long?
Guess we gotta ask those companies that are making millions off of illegal labor while no one is holding them accountable, eh?

That's surely an element, but it's a hotbutton issue too. Look at the uproar if say CA decides you can't issue a drivers license to an illegal. To me it's just crazy.

Pete........in my (humble) opinion, I don't think that not holding companies that hire illegals is simply "an element"......I think it is the very crux of the issue.
Follow the money............
Those same companies that hire illegals for cheap labor put money in the pockets of their political representatives .............. favors are returned.
How many people do you think would risk coming here illegally if there were not a job here to be had? Some, for sure, but, I'd bet the incentive would be greatly impacted and the numbers would drop.

I agree, and when both parties quietly do things you know it's the masters at work.

Follow the money. Thanks to our election laws and that money = speech the Dems were faced with two bad choices. Once the Reps had the wealthy and the corporations behind them the Dems found themselves behind a financial eight ball. They had to raise money but the Reps had pretty well wiped out the unions and the middle class was broke. So they became more 'business friendly' and Wall Street coughed up. Naturally this pissed off the middle class so they either stayed home or voted GOP, against their best interests.

"And what if the traditionalist-consrvatives are right and a . . . tax cut, without corresponding cuts in expenditures also leaves us with a problem? The neo-conservative is willing to leave those problems to be coped with by liberal interregnums. He wants to shape the future, and will leave it up to his opponents to tidy up afterwards." Irving Kristol - Paradox of the American Democracy

Cut and spend they did and dumped the whole stinking mess in Obama's lap and Mitt would have us go right back to more of the same. As long as their rich friends get richer and their corporate masters are happy the GOP will happily flush this nation down the toilet (hoping against hope that a Dem administration will clean up enough after them that we will only circle the bowl.)

The Democrats need to adopt a new symbol besides the jackass.

It's all the GOPs fault? With the rich Dems in control there for a while?

Pete, it's ALWAYS the GOP's fault.

If you don't believe me, just ask a Dem.

Well they have a point, as Reps are greedy evil people who just want to keep a good man down.

Not in southern Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. In many parts of those states, Hispanics are the majority of citizens.
