I think the difference is that Obama has grown tired in this instance of fixing the mess that Bush created (particularly with all the NIMBY demagoguery surrounding this issue), whereas Bush was too dense/stubborn to even admit he had a problem to begin with.

I'd say Bush said what he was going to do, Obama said what the Left wanted to hear and did the right thing anyway.

He won't lose any votes.

.... and Bush was a uniter, not a divider. Oh yeh, he also promised a "humble foreign policy." How'd that work out?

I've long since stopped believing in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and campaign promises.

Fixed it for ya.

You do realize that despite all the weeping and gnashing of teeth by all the mainlanders the civilian courts have tried ans sentenced more terrorists than the military tribunals. I hope all the weepers and gnashers realize that trying terrorists in miltary tribuanls elevates them from common criminals to prisoners of war. Oh, I forget there was no official declaration of war.

I'd say shoot them, but we need the info.

Elevating them to equals of citizens of the US is I think nuts.

an illegal who commits a crime here is tried in the criminal courts, that does not elevate him/her to the equivalent of a citizen. We love to say this is a nation of laws - except when we wish to ignore them.
