Anyone want to guess presidential candidates
I love to lurk here, and as many of you know, I am only vaguely involved in politics, but I thought it might be intresting to see who would be the contenders if the election was just two months away. WHo do you think would be on the republican platform, who on the democratic?
My guess for the republican would include Palin as vice president. Not sure who would get top billing
I am thinking Obama will get another chance, but Biden will retire and maybe hillary taking VP slot.
Just thoughts.
After this we can guess who will be in the cabinets. This could get really fun.

Obama will be the Democratic nominee except in the unlikely event he chooses not to run. Biden will remain in office as a very effective Vice President.
There is no way Sarah's ego would let her play second fiddle to anyone in the presidential race. She might take the cut in pay for the big job, but could not stand to be in the background.
As far to the right as the GOP is turning, I wouldn't be surprised to see Huckabee standing a good shot. I don't think the tea party faction would trust anyone from that pinko commie state of Minnesota.
Regards,
D-Ray

I would agree, Palin's ego would be a problem. I just can't see her as the primary candidate though. I don't think she would have the backing. But, because of her current exposure, she would make an extremely strong candidate for the VP slot. If she were willing to take the spot(and probably would with a certain reassuranceof a deal), then the republican base could get some momentum.
Here is a crazy one for you
Beck and Palin.

I think Palin could easily be bought and hence find many major backers.
Beck as VP, maybe.
As I said Sarah will never be the VP, she is much to insecure emotionally. (Sarah as a very poor self image to contend with. She would never be able to deal with it.)

At least Huckabee isn't the idiotic loon that Palin and Beck are. I actually enjoy his show sometimes. Nice guy.

I'd say Romney for the GOP. He has business cred and, despite being a Mormon, isn't perceived by independents as a wacko. By 2012, the excitement from the upcoming good showing by the GOP will be tempered by the realization that the GOP doesn't have the answers, after all. The crazy wing of the GOP will be diminished by then and the party will realize that it'll gave to put its best face forward (i.e., the least crazy).

Beck and Palin? Earth calling...
Neither on either.
I don't like Romney, not because of the Mormon religion but because they are so clannish. Like Chicago politics lol.
I can see Obama dumping Biden and replacing with Hillary perhaps. She's getting older though (thinking of '16).
I'm not so certain the GOP will make giant gains in Congress now. I'm not so certain that the tea partiers are really with us. Think of how the loonie left already wrote off Obama.
It may be too early in '12, too close to Bush, for the real GOP ammo - Condi. Depends how disliked Obama is.
