By September 11th all that was ancient history. As Finn said, Saddam lost the ability to do all that stuff after Desert Storm and after the UNSCOM team oversaw the destruction of his WMD.

D, I'm not one of them. If the situation now allows withdrawal for Iraq and deployment to Afghanistan that is fine - a very good thing indeed. This was Obamas call and now he owns it.

It looks like all those folks who said either this was impossible, or that Iraq should be split up, were wrong.

Come on guys, turn the page already

Being fired on every day isn't a real solution imo.

he invaded Kuwait because he believed we would allow it and it was (as with all wars) about economics. Kuwait was hurting Iraq though it's oil policies and it would not forgive the debt Iraq had incurred during it's war with Iran.

There are many countries that turn on there own that we ignore, we simply do not go to war for humanitarian reasons. It's always about the cash.

The threat of Saudi Arabia is irrelevant. Korea and Iran threaten a country daily.

Many countries fund suicide bombers, do we go to war with them?

Kuwait was "slant drilling" across the border into Iraq, pumping out oil that was in sovereign Iraqi territory. There's also the territorial dispute concerning Kuwait's status as an independent state or a province of Iraq.

that was Saddam's assertion however it has never been determined to have been the case
but the driving reason for the invasion was Iraq's economic situation
