Anyhow Venezuela is in a predicament. The issue of violence in the country is
a sour point.
Once violence has reached a certain point in a society it is hard to dial it back
without resorting to draconian measures. Such countries in the hemisphere
like El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala are examples.
Then there is the flight of currency. If you import a lot goods you need US dollars. But because people are afraid of Soci@lism and violence whatever US dollars which come in is hoarded or sent out to safe haven.
Of course there is external agitation, from the US coming in especially from Colombia.
A new government will solve importation problem albeit via huge devaluation
but not the violence.
Looking at countries where oil industries are significant, one has to really admire Norway.
Norway gave so many of its people a stake in its oil bonanza without hassle.
Or was Norway just lucky that it was relatively free from external pressure.
