So cities like Detroit became fantastically wealthy without rich people, and when they moved in it ruined the city.

It wasn't their presence - just their greed.

The rich people moved down the street to Grosse Point, after they shut down the factories and exported all of the jobs, leaving a desolate and crime ridden city behind them.

Maybe if we throw more money at them?

How did it become wealthy in the first place? Government regulation? Or men with vision desiring wealth?

How about men with a vision to create a product.

I thought wealth was the outcome of doing a good job, creating a good product, etc. Now wealth has become the goal, not the result.

Option two, our course. But desiring it just a little too much. And being a tad too ruthless in their pursuit of it.

Action-Reaction.

There is a tipping point, where those being driven will take no more.

Then the outcome was inevitable, If my aim is to become wealthy and I search around for some widget that will sell and make me wealthy then I will make it a cheaply as possible.

If , on the other hand I invent the proverbial mousetrap then I will endeavour to make it as well as it can be made - why? Because it has my name on it.
