Robert Christigau pegged Charlie as the greatest drummer in the history of rock music.

He is without a doubt in my top ten all time favorite drummers.

All these guys...contemporaries...we are starting to lose more of them now...the ones who didn't do themselves in when they were in their 20's. Tom Petty, Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, Dusty Hill, Peter Green, Little Richard, John Prine, Leslie West...I hate this. Getting old is a bitch.
