121212 Concert

Is anyone here watching it tonight? So far two observations: I still tire of Bruce Springsteen's voice and I can't remember how many decades its been since Billy Chrystal was funny. I hope it gets better or I'm going back to listening to The Moody Blues.

I'm enjoying the Roger Waters set. I've listened to the MBs first three albums and their Best of from 1989. I'm going in sequence through their albums.

This 121212 concert could get interesting with all the British bands from the 1960s. I hope to see some odd pairings. Of course, since I'm a Stones fan, I'm eager to see them.

Now playing a double-whammy of New Jersey Gawd-awfulness, Bon Jovi and Springsteen. Blech.

Funny side note. My sister a tea party nut! Went to see Bruce last month, got pissed when he didn't sing "Born in the USA". Forgot to mention they left early due to his political leanings. He sang it after they were gone......

I took that time to make some coffee. I really don't dislike Springsteen, but I can only take him in small doses—one or two songs. I once met Jon Bon Jovi. He's a nice guy, but I was never into the 1980s big hair bands. So far, I liked the Roger Waters performance the best.

I crossed paths with Bon Jovi and his band back in the late '80's when I was on a business trip to San Juan. I had flown in earlier in the day and was chilling around the pool at the Condado Plaza Hotel with a rum drink when a bunch of long fuzzy-haired, hair band types showed up around the pool surrounded by a bunch of swooning young Puerto Rican gals. The bartender told me that they were Bon Jovi. I had never heard of them.

As for Bruce, I really like his first two albums with Vini Lopez and David Sancious and their whole Latin street scene vibe. After that, he lost me. I all sounds the same (other than Nebraska, of course, which I also liked a bit).
