Here's a long, sobering piece on the state of our democracy and the measures the fascist moves the Right is taking on all fronts:
Deep into the 21st century, America is more racially, ethnically and religiously diverse than any moment in its 247-year history. The rising cohort of younger millennials and Gen Z — the nation’s best-educated generations ever, which seems to coincide with their embrace of diversity, tolerance and progressive ideas — is showing up at the voting booth. Sorry Sarah Palin, but this is “the real America” now, and the millions clinging to the older hierarchies around race, gender and Christian hegemony are not handling it well. If democracy means this true majority winning elections, then they hate democracy. If the real America is this young and diverse, then they hate America.
The rising “Hitler tactics” means finding any means necessary to undo free and fair elections where they didn’t like the outcome, or else changing the rules in the middle of the game, or else trying to prevent elections altogether.

Some lessons it now well seems need to be relearned over and over again. Generational knowledge only goes d=so far if at all...
The greatest generation needed a wake up call too!

I have been reading a lot of history during the late 1930s as Hitler was coming into power. The parallels between the political world then and now are alarming.

Let us hope the nation has learned from history. Then again to have gotten this far and for so long looks like we have not!

Interview with Prof. Sapna Kumar on Her Decision to Seek Employment Outside of Texas
A former University of Houston law professor speaks out about the effects of policies weakening tenure

Some people probably think that hardcore progressives are the only ones who should be really concerned about whether they could lose their academic jobs over their viewpoints in a state like Texas. Does that describe you?
No, definitely not. People of all political stripes are concerned about the state telling professors about what they can and cannot teach or research. This includes political moderates, such as myself.

Alabama’s Republican attorney general said in a court filing that he has the right to prosecute people who make travel arrangements for pregnant women to have out-of-state abortions.
In a court filing Monday, attorneys for Attorney General Steve Marshall wrote that providing transportation for women in Alabama to leave the state to get an abortion could amount to a “criminal conspiracy.”

Historian Heather Cox Richardson's reaction: “Someone who is prohibited from leaving a jurisdiction is not a citizen but a subject.”

How about a registry of every pregnant woman so she can be examined after returning to the state to make sure she's still with child? How about quartering them all once a pregnancy is detected to make sure "God's plan" isn't thwarted? How about a tip-line so any woman reported to have "had relations" can be quarantined until it can be determined if conception has taken place. If it has then she be placed into the aforementioned "pregnancy camp" until she gives birth.
How long until he wants to prosecute the person who pumped the gas into the car that drove the woman to get her procedure.
Fascist? No not us!

In Door County Wisconsin Fair at the Dem Booth,
ROE, ROE, ROE YOUR VOTE.
In the Repugnant booth, anti-abortion stickers are hiding.
