It's even worse than that. While knowing he was a wife-beater, the White House was still considering him for a promotion.

Rob Porter was involved in serious discussions to be promoted when he abruptly resigned from the White House last week amid allegations that he abused his two ex-wives, multiple sources familiar with the matter tell CNN.
His anticipated elevation further highlights how top White House officials were willing to overlook indications from the FBI that there were potential abuse allegations in his background in exchange for professional competence in a tumultuous West Wing.

In the midst of all these revelations about wife-beaters (along with Kushner and dozens of others) not having necessary security clearances, Trey Gowdy refuses to look into it.

Representative Trey Gowdy, Republican of South Carolina and the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has refused to ask the White House for any information about security clearances or for a formal briefing on the matter, Democrats on the panel said Monday. He has also refused to allow the committee to vote on three subpoenas proposed by Democrats, including one on interim clearances.

The security clearance is a recommendation to a federal agency that someone is reliable to work with sensitive information; I knew that the WH was lying since the FBI had to have told them long ago the issues concerning Porter. A normal administration would have simply chosen a candidate who could have passed a background check--should have done that immediately after the November election, certainly after they found out about Porter.

Qualified people don’t want to ruin their reputations by working for this train wreck of an administration. Only bumbling fools.

Would voters of South Carolina care that Gowdy Benghazi is now behaving like Sgt. Schultz and perhaps vote him out? Nunes the other enabler is behaving like he is from a safe district.

IIRC, Trey is getting out while the getting's good. He wants a federal judgeship on the 4th Circuit and if he waits until 2020 I doubt that Pres. Harris D-Ca will be amenable. Hell, if Mueller gets Trump we may have Pres. Pelosi in the WH and I know Nancy won't appoint him. (grin)

Thanks Bob, forgot that Mr. Benghazi is looking for a justice job and now it figures why he is playing dumb.

And was that a brain fart? Smart money says VP Harris seconding President Uncle Joe Biden.

Unca Joe is almost as old as the Prophet of Lake Champlain, 'Birdie' Sanders - both are passed their sell by date.

How about a Newsom/Harris or Harris/Newsom ticket?

Newsom has charisma which Biden also has, though I agree his age could be a factor. The other candidates, no one stands out and I don't think in the current political climate, a woman candidate for POTUS can withstand the media abuse.

Michael D. Cohen, President Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, said on Tuesday that he paid $130,000 out of his own pocket to a pornographic-film actress who had once claimed to have had an affair with Mr. Trump.

In the most detailed explanation of the 2016 payment made to the actress, Stephanie Clifford, Mr. Cohen, who worked as a counsel to the Trump Organization for more than a decade, said he was not reimbursed for the payment.

“Neither the Trump Organization nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms. Clifford, and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly,” Mr. Cohen said in a statement to The New York Times. “The payment to Ms. Clifford was lawful, and was not a campaign contribution or a campaign expenditure by anyone.”

I thought Trump and Stormy didn't do the nasty.

Cohen is trying to avoid having Trump and his campaign charged for breaking campaign finance laws.
