I could type a longer response using words such as empathy and collaboration, but I think the one word covers it.

Don't get me wrong, he is very very smart and very competent, but politicians need to work with people and he just doesn't seem all that interested in that aspect of it.

I was a subscriber for many years, but when John Kass wrote his column 6 days before the 2016 election trumpeting some bullshit about Hillary (which turned out to be untrue, surprise) I cancelled my sub and have never gone back.

Kass is an asshole, he has always been an asshole, he will always be an asshole. When Royke died, Tribune management decided that a low rent version of Royko was the best they could do. They were obviously wrong, but it was the best they could offer the readers who were looking for irreverence. Tribune management was never comfortable with Royko. Royko would have hated Emanuel...then again, Royko felt all politicians were of a lower order.

Seriously...what does Kass have to do with this opinion piece? Nothing.

So I will take this moment to remind y'all that Emanuel is for all the right stuff.

During his time in the US House, Emanuel had a 100-percent pro-choice voting record. He supported LGBT rights including same-sex marriage. He was a strong supporter of gun control, strongly supported the banning of numerous types of firearms, and he was rated "F" by the NRA. Emanuel regularly spoke in support of the goal of "to help make health care affordable and available for all Americans".

So you progressives go ahead and praise Congressional Republicans like...Liz Cheney (who voted with Trump 90% of the time), Romney (over 70%), and Kinzinger (80%) while you piss and moan about Rahm Emanuel. Cheney, Romney, and Kinzinger's opposition to Trump doesn't make them heroes...it makes them not assholes regarding Trump. Although they remain assholes in their political positions.
