Video:Carrier employees reaction to their layoff, jobs moving to Mexico.

The linked video shows the reaction of the Carrier workers to the news that their jobs are going to Mexico.

Additionally Cenk Uygur offers some insights:

The company, United Tech did not have to do that -
It made big profits.
It got a lot of incentives from government.

The government has leverage which it has not used.
United has billions of Federal contracts.

My personal view: I am appalled by the lack of grass roots reaction from people and the Dems in particular.

Well, well, the sucking sound continues.

But the Democratic Party which is supposed to be the "Union Party" is a pussy.

It has no street credibility. Not even a demonstration...some civil disobedience...waving of flag and occupation of an office or two.

What do you mean by "Democratic Party"? Do you mean the rank and file Democratic voters or elected Democratic legislators? Which of these groups should be occupying what offices?

"Now Main Street's whitewashed windows and vacant stores
Seems like there ain't nobody wants to come down here no more
They're closing down the textile mill across the railroad tracks
Foreman says these jobs are going boys and they ain't coming back,

No, it shows a reluctance to accept the legitimacy of elected representatives or appointed party officials organizing riots and illegal occupations of private property.

We already saw that in Florida back in 2000.

There are peaceful and non violent ways available to protesters which can be used to galvanize public opinion.

However the Democratic leadership is aloof to the serious issues affecting its union class especially the class associated with manufacturing.

With NAFTA and now TPP, the leadership is saying why get involve with job retaining issues.
