That doesn't mean anyone has to make it available to them.

At what point does "free market Capitalism" become too much of a good thing?

I think we may have crossed that line a while ago.
I couldn't agree with you more.

Not that it matters now, because if you go shopping for that particulare product today, virtually ALL pf them are made in that place and more expensive than they were before.

Is that an accident? Is it just the natural flow of a free market that no one has any control over?
The american one is usually more expensive. Depending on what it is it can be either superior in quality, or about the same. That's the price of keeping America strong.

The Chinese one was more expensive. They were Wahl hair clippers.

Were the american clippers of inferior quality?

One place where american's really fail is in housing construction. If I could buy a chinese made house I would. American construction workers build really shitting houses.

I don't like it either. But I try to walk the walk and buy american where I can, even if it does cost an arm and a leg. I just buy less stuff.
When I was growing up I don't remember one person I knew being in favor of the free trade agreements that our government was entering into. Not one. They all saw the handwriting. I don't think the consumer bears as much responsibility as you would like to place on them.

Free trade is the rope that Marx spoke of.

WTF Wahl is now made in China.

I am looking at mine which bought recently. It reads made in China to Wahl's specification. I did not even realize that. Isn't Wahl Americana?

Now Wahl has tremendous goodwill which it built over many years and therefore can charge a premium price...it does not need to be built in China.

BTFOoM, may relate to parts availability, or, considering stockholders over the employees (not as if that ever happens).

I recently saw an add for a Wahl trimmer. It said that it was made "with American blades". It failed to mention that those American blades were shipped to China and fitted onto a Chinese trimmer.
