It's scary, but probably won't be the end of the world. But I fear it will be the start of the U.S. not being what we've been used to. When I was in High School there was Russia. I would imagine that China will overtake us in GNP, they have a huge country and a lot of people. Provided they don't poison themselves due to a lack of environmental controls.
Then again, this current downturn reminds me of the eighties. The mood of the country was grim, and the conventional wisdom was that the Japanese would wind up owning the country.
They did make some headway over here, but a lot of them went home wearing barrels.
When it comes to passing out a good old fashioned screwing, the Yankee businessman is nobody's fool.
We may have a bunch of cheap Chinese junk, but all they got was a bunch of digits on a computer screen. And we're busy inflating the decimal point to the right.
