I came to that conclusion in my 20's whenever my favorite uncle died.
The folks sent him to the hospital, and while I was there I heard him tell the nurses, "Goddamnitt, get out of here and let me die."
All the old man wanted was to die at home. The folks should have just taken him a fifth of Four Roses (he liked that shit) and just humored him until he passed.
The absolutely worst thing they could do was send him to the hospital. As far as I know, I think that was the only time he was in a hospital for his entire life.
