Hadn't heard of the Kibbutz before. The
first resource I found - clearly not an objective source - had a glowing review of Kibbutz living. Putting aside our historical observation of state run Communism, which included totalitarian political regimes, the Kibbutz is portrayed as a very democratic, but also clearly communist community. I got the impression that membership in a Kibbutz is voluntary, but from your post, Grumpy, it sounds like it is not completely voluntary. Being the lefty I am, I found many of the things described in this article very appealing. Overall, however, most all of us here, including me, would likely find the lifestyle stifling.
