However, some Germans know that Trump does not represent the entire America. They know that the equation

Trump = USA

is wrong.

That is good. Germany should then relieve US of some of its burden re Europe.

Germany economy is pretty strong. Time for it to step up to the 2% plate.

You echo the Trump criticism, but really don't see what basis you have for that 'should' statement. Unless you mean they will have to spend more on defense, because Trump's support of NATO is conditional on how popular he is in places like Germany....
