Most people fall on one extreme or the other.

Make that eleven - 2 each .22 rifles, 12 gauge shotguns, 50 cal muzzleloaders, deer rifles and varmint rifles for me and my sons to hunt and target/skeet shoot with, plus a 38 Special Colt revolver I inherited years ago from my uncle. None of these guns are autoloading or have more than 5 shot magazine capacity and all stay locked in my gun safe separate from ammunition. I pretty much only bowhunt anymore, but if I gun hunt for deer, it's been solely with muzzleloader for the past 10 years or so. No spray and pray here.
