The joke my friends is that it was his Republican opponent who made the movies, sent them to the Times, and is spending (so far) $16 million of her own money on the election. Meanwhile all the veterans are still behind him.

If you are really looking for a scum bag how about the 'family values' Republican who just quit because he was having an affair with an aide. Oh but it was not really his fault, he says it is the poisonous atmostphere in Washington that made him do it - sure.

Scum bag Souder did the wrong thing in having an affair, but at least will have the decency to resign.

Scum bag Blumenthal, on the other hand will no doubt try to make himself a misunderstood victim.

What's more damaging to our country? Someone who cheats on his wife or someone who lies to his constituents about his military service to get votes? Especially considering that it was a pretty easy lie to uncover, is this guy even smart enough for the job?

Blumenthal should follow Souder's lead.

I guess it boils down to which is worse, a liar or a hypocrite. As bad as both are, I think hypocrites fare worse in the body politic. All or most politicians lie (to some degree at least), whereas preaching/advocating for a certain position (abstinence) while having an affair with the staffer strikes me as worse. Also, the voters have a chance to vote against Blumenthal in the upcoming election whereas Souder was already in elective office when his hypocrisy was exposed.

That said, I have no sympathy for either of the @ssholes. They should be flippin' burgers somewhere.

I saw that, that guy was full of it. He should've manned up instead of crying like a spoiled brat.

Wouldn't be surprised if he used a few tears to woo the staffer. It most certainly was not his rugged good looks.

Not my burgers - I'd be afraid of the "special sauce".
