It does seem that if you're making a strong wage and have excellent benefits to enjoy that Republicans will be along shortly to remind your employer that labor is cheaper and much more docile in China, doesn't it?

Strange then that unions were still strong when Detroit started dying. How's that fit the mold of the left?

Detroit began to die because the product they made was inferior to and appealed to American buyers less than the competition from overseas. As a result, their sales went through the floor. By the time Detroit wised up American buyers had deserted them. It has nothing to do with unions or "the left", just idiotic management.

Never heard the stories of line workers laughing and slapping trim on behind their backs?

The assembly line is dead and should have been buried long ago. So if all you did 8 hours a day was bolt on wheels, you would believe you had the greatest job around.
