Because as you said, they don't have to deal with American health insurance hassles. The cost of the labor, wagewise is closely comparable, and if you check you will find that the bulk of those plants are union as well----health insurance costs are the only real difference, afaik.

Good luck finding one of those in a rust belt city nowadays.

Define "decent".

Look, of course business, like lightning, is going to follow the path of least resistance. The issue you should be looking into is; Why is the south losing jobs to outsourcing? My job was already in "the south", it didn't go further south----it went to Canada.

To this company;

Because, ......do I have to say it again?

We made OEM exterior lighting, up until 2004. Chrysler, Cadillac, Mitsubishi and a very low volume (But high profit.) for Maserati.

I helped dismantle and load machinery onto trucks bound for Windsor, Ontario. So, I can say with reasonable certainty that that's where it ended up.

Funny, but I know a guy in Windsor who makes those lights...

Why? We are buying up lots of your land...don't worry about it. As a matter of fact, I bet I own more of Canada than you.
We will all be legal, and lobby hard for open borders.
You Lefty's will love us.

Blue you know that the guys in the UAW took certain liberties that we wouldn't get away with. I'm not saying that's the only reason. Read Yates'es Decline and Fall of th American Autombile Industry sometime.

I love how when it comes to Canada everyone says 'it's the heath insurance' - but then why are jobs also moving to the southern US? Anyone?

And those nonunion auto makers do pay decently.

Decently with reference to what? As far as I know there are no "Right to work" provinces in the GWN, wher the governments take a "let's bash unions" stance.
