You guys forget that the countries of Iraq, Syria and Lebanon are all artificial creations of the British and french at the end of ww1. Artificial borders put into place to keep them weak and easily manageable. Putting them all together again into one country is not an outlandish goal. They are trying in their own way to correct 100 years of western meddling in their affairs. Bush and the neocons made it possible by their inept and clumsy attack on the one stabilizing power in the region.

And this is not an al Qaeda issue. AL Qaeda has never been more then a few hundred men. They have been made into the boogeyman by the neocons and are trotted out to scare gullible republican supporters into line at every opportunity.

All may still work out, Cantor gerrymandered his own district and look what that did. Have the primaries bring in a few more legitimate rape yahoos and we take back the House.

Well whoever is to blame we certainly do not want these assholes controlling large swaths of Iraq. This is revolting. One thing for sure is that these people will not win over too many hearts and minds.

There does seem to be a lot of neocon blood in the water these days with Cantor getting his legs chopped off in such a spectacular fashion . Maybe the lunatic fringe tea drinkin' nihilists will serve up some interesting cases of foot in mouth this fall?

edit-sorry for the threadcrap Dondillion.

That is why I find Obama indecisive leadership so infuriating.

This will stir up the Shias to a fever pitch. There will be a religious bloodbath over this. Time for the West to butt out of this jihad between the Sunnis and the Shias.

The President is doing what the people who elected him want him to do. No more war, especially for middle east oil.

The Saudis infused by Salafism view the Iran Shias as direct enemies and
therefore will use their petro dollars to support extremist Sunni forces such
ISIS.

This is a weak cover for a lack luster president. The people also elected him to f--k up Al Qaeda or similar outfits any where we see them.

I do not see the point of droning them in Yemen, Afghanistan and Pakistan and folding our hands in Iraq.
