Archie's Place did depict the more sensitive side of Archie. The underlying love he had for the "Dingbat" was very apparent in Archie's Place. I do not recall the cause of Edith's death. All In the Family, together with its spin offs Maude and The Jeffersons, did much nurture the acceptance of equal rights wrt blacks and women. John Wayne and Bea Arthur going head to head was interesting. Just getting Wayne to do a TV guest spot was an achievement let alone on an ostensibly feminist sitcom.
