If English is your native language? The bolded statement indicates that she was passing on hearsay information, not making a determinative statement on what happened there.

We are not saying the same thing. I'm saying that he was passing on hearsay information he heard on the street (perhaps from a Russian agent) and you're inferring that she passed on direct knowledge of what actually happened. These are indeed quite different, comrade.

Argue with Paet then. Here is the actual tape of the conversation. You are trying to say that the person who had the conversation and authenticated isn't a reliable person to believe that the conversation happened . That is a little ridiculous don't you think?
