Uh, demagoguery. It's a way for the financial elite to play upon the prejudices and fears of the proletariat when the elites know that nothing will ever be able to stop their supply of cheap labor (until the labor at home becomes cheap enough to satisfy them).

They're not good at enforcing existing laws, no previous administration has been good at that since---I don't know when. A long time ago, that's for sure.

I dunno, Pete. Near as I can tell, they believe the AZ laws are more about anti-Latino sentiment (Racism, if you want to call it that.) than anything else. But, I don't know much about the AZ laws, and I don't live in AZ. I do know we have a rapidly growing Latino population here, in VA. And, the usual haters are as livid about their presence as they are about blacks and, well, anyone who isn't Caucasian. (And Southern.) They sure don't mind hiring Mexicans to do their landscaping, though.

But, is that the case in AZ? Beats me. Never been there. (Well, I drove through, once, in 1986. But I was pretty stoned.)

People often make adjustments whenever it comes to cheap labour. They will hire Mexicans as live in domestics without even carrying out any criminal or health checks. Heck....a working class household with two, three domestics decked out in uniforms.....that was once the preserve of the previleged.
