China has deep pockets

China is about to begin its second phase of developmental aid to Africa.
It means China is looking long term. A more modern Africa enmeshed
with the Chinese economy. A win win way to spend those excessive
dollars.

When it comes time to pay back, we will be paying about half of what they we owe them. Depreciation of the USD is one of their biggest economic worries and why they keep buying USD's like an addict.

I used to think our debt to them was the economic equivalent of MAD.

But China has more cash in the bank! than our total debt to them. It'd hurt but not cripple them.
