Certain people in Congress are despicable to me, none more so than Tommy Tubes who is a lying sneaky ignorant holier than thou asshole. Not just deplorable but evil to the core. He had this to say recently after the GOP House shelved the bipartisan bill passed by the Senate for funding Ukraine.

Quote:
Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.), echoing Putin, claimed on X that “Russia is open to a peace agreement, while it is DC warmongers who want to prolong the war.” He also claimed that Ukraine “can’t win” against Russia.
The only other Repugnant that I have come close to hating is the ex-Maricopa County sheriff Joe Arpaio. I consider Trump a Joke but an evil one.

Is the bill really to fund Ukraine or to fund local armaments manufacturers?
I noticed France and Germany projecting the same arms manufacturing matrix.

Not the point I was making, but since you asked, it is to fund Ukraine against their war on Russia but a significant portion of the funding will be spent here in the US to manufacture armaments. Details escape me or too complicated to interest me.

What I resent is his representation of Russia as a peaceful country neglecting the fact that they invaded Ukraine unprovoked for the second time.

And then claiming Ukraine will lose to Russia; isn't Western/NATO aid to Ukraine is because Ukraine is unable to defend themselves?

And this is a guy so ignorant that eh thought the House and Senate were two separate branches of our government.

They vote for the vilest of them all, 3rd worst President voted by historians because he will lead them to their promised land (very similar to religious fanatics/evangelicals), but they do not know what awaits them in this promised land other than racial purity.

Not 3rd worst. Worst.

We give the money to armaments manufacturers. They make stuff. Then it goes to Ukraine. If the point was just graft for the manufacturers, you skip step three, and as far as that goes, we don't always even get step two.

So over time there is an incentive for manufacturers and those connected for an expansion and time extension of war.
I think General Milley and General Zaluzhny saw this coming.

Of course! There are interests which get rich from the expansion and prolongation of war. Surprisingly in Russia there is a bureaucracy which strives for the containment of debt and which has been reasonably successful.

Nevertheless one has to admit that US which wants to keep this munitions thing local as.possible is not as wasteful as its European counterparts. In NATO-Europe the cost of 155mm shell has quadrupled in the last two years!!

The message from Zaluzhny is that there is a dual component to the undertaking of this war...materiel and manpower. The slick ones are only highlighting material needs and want minimal advertisement to the dire manpower situation. So once Zalushny used the awful word "stalemate" he had to go.
General Milley was lucky Biden did not fire him for uttering the same word.
