Newt (remember this criminal?) Gangrene was the last Speaker to visit Taiwan. He said on Faux “News” recently, that the Chinese are bluffing. Hate to agree with the ass, but he’s right.

Bullies only respect and fear an adversary that is willing to stand up, not back down. Any sign of a weakness is the wrong move.

China is flexing it's muscles and playing a long game. The USA needs to start playing a better game before it is to late.

I guess what I'm wondering is, is this a good time for her to be doing this? What's the upside?

The upside is telling China that in democracies, legislators can travel wherever they want without giving autocracies a veto over their freedom to travel. In the words of the G7 in response to China's threats, "there is no justification to use a visit as pretext for aggressive military activity in the Taiwan Strait. It is normal and routine for legislators from our countries to travel internationally."

It appears Nancy called their bluff:

In roughly 24 hours, Chinese officials and propagandists went from warning of a powder keg to pleading for patience as Beijing struggled to articulate a cohesive response to Nancy Pelosi’s landmark trip to Taiwan.

I'd love to see how the FAUX Entertainment division spins this. I'd love to if I gave a tinker's damn about what they have to say on the matter.
