wierd klh model 17 score..

so yesterday along with the kodascope projector, and walkie talkies, i also scored these klh model 17s that some butthole painted white. *grin* idk why people do this. i found a pair of vintage 1950s JBLs once that someone painted neon pink *yousuck* once. anyway, they were cheap, $2.00 for the pair and are overall in pretty good shape. but something is very diffrent about these model 17s, they are fairly commonplace down here in florida and over the years ive probubly had 50 or so pairs but none like these. first of all, one of the tweeters is black? at first i thought it was a replacement or a newer one or that someone had painted it, put it looks stock!, not only that, the grillcloth is totally diffrent, it looks and feels like the same grillcloth that AR-3s use. witch may have been replaced, but i dont think they were. also now for the really strange thing, the back plate/crossovers, they are silver unlike the early black ones or the older silver ones with the bold KLH logo with green lines threw it, these have no logo at all! im thinking these were maybe eather very early models or some of the last ones made, maybe a import? i have no clue, anyways here are some pics. can anyone clue me in on these mystery model 17s?? i havent opened them up yet but i know most of these have a date stamped inside the box.
