Garland's appointment would have been temporary and the 'brain trust' of the Dem Party (brain damaged is more like it) figured anointing Hillary as President will be a slam dunk. Well Hillary lost to Trump and that's like Stockton dunking on Malone.

Yes, but the Republicans would then have had to show their asses by not confirming him, or by voting him down. Either way that would have cost them more political capital than the way Obummer handled it.
