Would you support a ban on texting while driving?

What do you think? An infringement on your rights or a protection of you rights? I saw that this is being considered in OH now.

Heck in NY I started getting tickets for talking on my cell back in 2001.
What do you think?

Absolutely! I don't see it as an infringement since I don't have a cell anyway but I do see dummies daily texting or looking down at the phone while attempting to drive. Most folks do not drive well to begin with, this only adds to the lack of skill required.

No, and I don't wear my seatbelt either. I have a fax machine in my truck.

I would be only too happy to ban cell phones outright.

In NJ, all non driving activities are banned, drinking a beverage, putting on make up, cell phone, texting.......

There was a mythbusters show where they actually did studies comparing someone driving drunk versus driving while talking on their cell phone. The results were very similar. Driving while texting is WORSE!

You bet I support a ban. That and cellphone use. My neck still hurts from getting rear-ended by a lawyer(!) on a cellphone three years ago.

Lad down the court frrom us lost a leg because some idiot driver was reaching for his cell phone and pinned him between two bumpers. He was directing traffic around an accident scene.

Frankly I think any cell phone provider who enables texting should be fined heavily until they remove the damned software.
