Talk about growing the economy by hamstringing business?

My company seems to have missed out on the stimulus money gravy train you mention, as have most. Regardless, if business activity picks up, it will have less to do with which political party is in charge and everything to do with whether or not there is clarity on tax policy and pending regulation.

I'd be thrilled if the economy miraculously goes gangbusters after the election. You can't change the fact that both parties will claim credit or assign blame. But if people get back to work, we'll be better off for it.

Finn I am beginning to think the bailout was wrong, a damn good depression and the collapse of the big banks might just be what the country needs, might knock some sense into people.

It's the nagging truth, not a skipping turntable.
When you cut the greediest people on the planet loose to do as they damn well please, what do you think is going to happen? Think their going to start showering the rest of us with gobs of cash? Please. This makes no sense.
I tend to think they're going to screw us out of every last penny they can get their hands on, and then beg, borrow or steal to get even more. All the while trying to make us feel guilty for getting in their way. This is why they want the regulators and unions out of the way, and why "the love of money" is evil (As your Bible tells you.).----Because greed is never satisfied, it keeps going until only the most ruthless among us have everything and we end up fighting over their table scraps.
I don't understand how you can see it any other way.
Dave

They get elected as US Senator or Representative and empower themselves to take money away from the folks who earned it.

When you look up taxes in the dictionary, I think that's pretty much the definition.

Yup, this explains the treatment of conservatives and the Tea Party activist by the ruling class.

Do you really believe that people will be treated better with unrestrained capitalism than with laws providing a minimum wage, protecting the rights of workers to organize, preventing discrimination, establishing safety standards, and requiring employers to make contributions toward retirement income, to name just a few? This doesn't even take into account the precedence the bottom line takes over anything else - the environment, the survival of the areas where plants are located, the sustainability of a public education system, the health of its workers or neighbors, the truth of its marketing claims.

Oh, you mean the media conglomerate and oil giants who helped whip them up into a frenzy to do the fact cats' bidding.

"To tax (from the Latin '; "I estimate", which in turn is from '; "I touch") is to impose a financial charge or other levy upon a taxpayer (an individual or legal entity) by a state or the functional equivalent of a state such that failure to pay is punishable by law.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxes
# : The mass noun for money paid to the government for public purposes"
