I think if satire is identified as satire, it is certainly cricket. When comics on Saturday Night Live act in the role of the President or Sarah Palin, I'm sure the audience realizes that the dialogue is not the actual words of the person who is the object of the satire. The satirical publications do the same thing that the script writers do. They create something that is close enough to something that the satirized person would say to connect the humor to reality.

Ah shucks, I didn't say youse was after scalps. Now is 'fake but accurate' the part where it gets 'not cricket,' in your opinion? Maybe?

Seems like a cool way to say it to me, in the spirit of good clean satire....
