Some of our machines are awesome, some a pain. We've got a couple new labellers that are just a slick as can be. They can run 300+ cans per minute all day long and make beautiful seams. Now, some might say 300 cpm aint much, cuz the breweries and Pop companies run upwards of 1,000 cpm. But were talking 39 ounce cans full of a granular product. Were are actually moving more product, by weight.

We do have a few antiques in the plant as well. Most of the plant has gone to nitrogen packing, but one line still runs vacuum seamers that were built in the 1940's. They're a pain to work on, but they are built solid. Tough old machines.

I got tired of aviation mainly because of the job instability. So much of it is strictly contract work these days. Six months here, a year there, three months over there, constantly moving......YUCK. Some folks like that, but I'm just the kind of guy that would like to find a good company and stay with them to the end. There are still some union jobs at the airlines that pay pretty well, but they are tough to get into, cuz that's where everyone wants to be. And they are slowly disappearing too, the work is being contracted out.
It sucks, I hate how things go these days. I hate what deregulation has done to the aviation industry. Sorry, but that truly is how I feel about it.

Heck you don't have to be sorry

I too wish I could get a defined benifit pension, among other things, but the world has moved on. I'm lucky to have my current employer.

Heck my dad had 6 weeks paid vacation when he retired! Ach.

Those machines sound AWESOME! I'd love to see them in operation.
