Thoughts on GOP strategy IRT Trump.....
At the moment, the "establishment" GOP is howling about Trump. They are watching all of the other GOP candidates fall behind and drop out, leaving them in the position of choosing to nominate the popular choice, Trump, or bucking his popularity and nominating Rubio or Cruz.
Or so we think.
I have come to the conclusion that the GOP is simply building plausible deniability. Hear me out.
They are also watching as traditionally Democratic voters crossover and support Trump. What this means is that if Trump should win the Whitehouse, whether he is a success or a failure, the situation could still be twisted into an advantage for the Republican Party.
1). If he succeeds under the GOP banner, they will claim him as one of their own and tell us all about how Republican "leadership" works best.
2). If he fails under the GOP banner it will be because; "He's 'really' a Democrat, who only made it into the Whitehouse because of Dems who crossed over and voted for him.".
They know that much of the American public possesses the memory span of a gnat and minds as malleable as Play-Doh. The leadership will develop sudden amnesia and be unable to recall ever having opposed or supported Trump........and the little mice will gleefully fall in line, behind their Piper. They always do.
(I reference Reagans "I don't recall." lies at the Iran Contra hearings.....)
Thoughts?
