Let's wait and see how the imposition of a new rule sits with the players.
Besides is there a law governing what one must do while the national anthem is being played?

May be wrong but does it not fall under the term of common respect and etiquette?

Yes, I for one will always stand up when the national anthem is played and for either nations. But that is my choice and not because it is mandated.
What if some NFL players chose to remain in the clubhouse while the anthem is being played? Is that disrespect too?
How about the NYPD turning their backs on their Mayor? Where were the Trumpbaggers then?

Doubtful that players will make the choice to be benched. It sounds like Colin K is already caving...not that his refusal to stand is the reason he's not playing.

I AM speaking for myself. I also have observed the displeasure of other fans during the anthem as the players engaged in their idiotic and disrespectful behavior.
Also, why do we need a law to do the right thing and stand up and show respect for the country that gives the NFL players the right to act like idiots? At least we haven't up until now, because there was a tradition in place that - until the left decided to politicize the national anthem - informed folks what behavior was appropriate during the anthem.

If that lying fucking moron tells me I have to stand, fuck him and fuck the gullible fools that put him there.
NFL: Trump is wrong, we're not making players stand for anthem

We will see what happens won't we?
But if the fans attending the game kneel down, they will make a mockery of the NFL and Goodell. I do not watch NFL games so will have to wait till the games are over and reports come in.

I remember during my senior year of HS being in the auditorium for some mandatory senior assembly that started with the Star Spangled Banner and most, if not all, of us not standing. At the end I let out a "play ball." Color me unpatriotic.
